Barahchhetra was established as municipality in 2074 BS. Geographically it is located in the eastern terai of the country. Barahchhetra, Mahendranagar, Bharaul, Prakashpur and Madhuban VDC’s were merged to form them as municipality. The municipality incorporates with 11 wards. 12.88 percent of municipal land is used for agriculture purpose, where as 79.46 percent of the municipal land is covered by forest. Barah Chettra, Chinnamastaa, Aulia Baba, Ramdhuni, Suryakunda, Koshi Tappu are some major religious and tourist attractions in the Municipality.
