Geographically, Damak Municipality is in the eastern Terai region of Nepal. Damak is a historical city located in the Jhapa district of Province 1. It was established in 2039 BS. Later it was revised to form a new Damak Municipality with 10 wards in 2073 BS. The municipality is bordered by Chuchuli and Kamal Rural Municipality in the east, Morang District in the west, Illam District in the north and Gaurahadaha Municipality in the south.
