Deumai Municipality lies in Illam District of Province 1. It was established in 2072 BS. Chamaita, Sangrumba, Shantidanda, Siddhithumka and Jitpur VDC’s were merged with the existing Deumai Municipality forming a greater Municipality. Deumai Municipality is named after the Deumai river flowing through the municipality. Out of the total population in the municiplaity 51.18% speak Nepali whereas 13.88% speak Bantawa and 11.93% speak Limbu. 21.46% of population are Rai and 17.07% are Brahmin Hills followed by 14.55% of Limbu.
