Geographically, Sunawarshi Municipality is in the Terai region of Nepal. Sunwarshi is a historical, religious and industrial municipality. It is one of the 9 municipalities in Morang district of Province 1.The municipality was formed in 2073 BS merging some former VDCs: e.g. Amardah, Gobindpur, Bardanga and Dainiya, also taken 3 wards from Rangeli Municipality. It is surrounded by Ratuwamai in east, Rangeli and Kanepokhari in west, Pathari Sanischare municipality in north and India in south.
