Geographically, Chainpur Municipality is a mountainous region of Nepal. Chainpur is a historical and religios city located in the souther part of Sankhuwasabha district of Province 1. It was established in 2074 BS. Numdhaki VDC was merged with Chainpur Municipality to form current Chainpur Municipality. The municipality is bordered by Taplejung and Terhathum district in the east, Khandbari Municipality and Bhojpur district in the west, Panchpakhan Municipality in the north and Dharmadevi and Madi Municipality in the south. The most important tourist area in this Municipality is Siddhakali Temple, Baleshwor Cave, Gufapokhari, Bhimeshwor Gupa etc.
